Securing Multi-Year Corporate Partnerships

Context

Junior Enterprises Europe is a pan-European student entrepreneurship network with access to the European Parliament and institutional credibility in Brussels. Corporate partnerships existed but were largely transactional, one-off sponsorships without shared purpose or strategic logic. As President, the task was to change the model.

Approach

The shift required a different kind of conversation with corporate partners: one built on a shared map of interests rather than goodwill or visibility. Brussels is a city where corporate public affairs teams need credible, non-lobby access to young people and policymakers.

A student-led European network, positioned well, offered exactly that. Bayer MaterialScience had just spun off and rebranded as Covestro. Their public affairs team needed to establish a new brand identity in a regulatory environment where being seen as a responsible, forward-thinking corporate actor genuinely mattered. A three-year partnership with a credible pan-European student network gave them a platform. For the organisation, it brought funding, legitimacy, and reach.

The Microsoft renewal was a different challenge: demonstrating what the partnership had produced and making the case for continued investment. Renewals are often taken for granted. Treating them with the same rigour as a new pitch is what kept the relationship alive. Throughout the year, the role also involved representing the voice of students and young entrepreneurs to the European Parliament and other European governing bodies.

Results

Three new strategic partnerships closed: Microsoft at three years, Covestro at three years, EY as a new commitment. More than fifty one-time partnerships alongside. A team of over twenty student volunteers managed throughout. The multi-year commitments provided organisational stability and a replicable model for those who followed.
